ELVES PRESLEY: Today-or-thereabouts, while I was using a broom to defend myself from an athletic leaping frog, the Lord of the Rings Film swept the Oscar Statue-giving ceremony. I anticipate it's now only a matter of time before the Elves will be facing charges for their theft of Thai script, and pretending it to be something of their own. In Thailand this day will go down in history as ??????????, ?????????? (alas - if you got a line of question marks there then your browsers won't support Thai script). Mark mai words.

N.Y. = BIG APPLE?: In the current LA WEEKLY (a French periodical? Or would that be LE WEEKLY?) there is an interview with Neil Young, whose father was/is well-known in Toronto as a columnist and sports writer. Mentioned in the story: Dad's reply to a question from said son:
Q: What was he going to write?
A: He wouldn’t know until he’d finished writing it.

I state the obvious: Young’s intuitive approach --"feeling his way into things", using "emotional reactions as his guide"-- runs in the family then.
